Background

Katutubo Village Elementary School, located in Planas, Porac, Pampanga, was established in 1994 through the initiative of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters. Recognizing the school’s huge contribution to the education and development of the whole Ayta community, in the school year 2003-2004, Katutubo Village Elementary School became an independent school under the DepEd-Division of Pampanga.

As the school continued to grow, building and facilities were added to the school site. However, in the event of the earthquake that happened last April 22, 2019, the entire school unfortunately incurred damages from its buildings and other facilities, having cracks on its walls and ceiling, floor, comfort rooms, including the stage, Principal’s office, and other service rooms. Following consecutive monitoring and evaluation from the DepEd Division Office’s Engineering Unit and Porac Municipal Engineering Office, it was disclosed that most of the facilities and/or buildings are no longer safe, declaring a total demolition of the whole establishment.

Before the pandemic, Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) were built outside the school premises for the learners. But as the crisis in the face of Pandemic intensify the TLS has been slowly being damaged caused by termites and long exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Other non-functional classrooms were repaired last September 2021 and are being occupied by our Kindergarten to Grade 2 learners. In middle of 2023, a two-story building was constructed consisting of four classrooms. These rooms were filled with the remaining classes. However, the classrooms are still not enough to accommodate all the 8 classes from Kindergarten to Grade VI, thus resulting to shifting (morning and afternoon) classes.
